about me

dear lovely reader,

My name is Sara and I created this blog to share about my adventures around the world. I recently graduated from Oregon State University, receiving a B.A. in both Political Science and International Studies.

I spent much of my senior year dreading the question that would inevitably come up when people would hear that I was graduating soon: “So, what are your plans for the future?” The problem was simple; I had no idea what I was doing next. I knew that I wasn’t quite ready for graduate school, nor was I ready to find a job in my chosen career path (as I had not necessarily chosen a future career path…). I’d applied to a couple of international opportunities, but knew that they were quite competitive and didn’t have my hopes set too high.

When I received an email notifying me that I had been awarded a Fulbright Grant, I couldn’t believe it. After 30 minutes of shock, my first thought was that I’d finally be able to answer the dreaded “what-comes-next” question. Through various emails and stressful visa applications and rushed medical exams, I worked on putting all my ducks in a row to go abroad once again.

I will be spending the next 10 months as an English Teaching Assistant (ETA) in Ostrava, the 3rd largest city in the Czech Republic, located about about 10 miles from the Polish border. I will be an ETA at a Czech equivalent to a high school. I’m excited to have the opportunity to go abroad once again, and to hopefully become semi-competent in a new language!

I’m so glad that you’ve stopped by, and can’t wait to share my thoughts and experiences through this blog! I hope that you enjoy your time here! Please let me know if you have any questions, and I’ll do my best to answer.

xoxo,

sara

  1. Thank you for the follow! Your adventures look amazing, I am in love with Spain and can’t wait to check out your journey. My first language is Spanish so I obviously think it’s great you are immersing yourself in this beautiful language.

  2. Studying abroad is one of the best things you can do while in college. I was able to spend a summer in Spain that way, but I wish I had taken a whole year! Happy travels.
